BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about Tall Ships.

The Tall Ship Celebration will be sailing into Bay City in July, but tickets go on-sale starting on April 1.

A dozen ships are scheduled to sail into Saginaw Bay for the July 14-17 festival, including the Draken Harald Harfagre, which was built with inspiration from a Viking ship.

You may also want to check out the El Galeon Andalucia, a replica of a 16th-17th century galleon that were used by the Spanish Crown for maritime expeditions through the 18th century.

On Thursday, July 14, the ships sail into downtown Bay City through the Saginaw River, and ten will be docked for tours Friday, July 15 through Sunday, July 17. The Appledore IV and Appledore V are operated by a non-profit organization in Bay City will also be offering a chance for people to go for a sail.

Ballads and Brews will also offer something fun for visitors in the evening. It features maritime music, they type you’d hear back in the day from sailors, and Michigan craft brewed beer.

A ticket is needed to enter the festival grounds, and a Souvenir Passport is required to board and tour the ships. The Souvenir Passport is good for the entire festival weekend.

Pricing for the daily admission tickets and Souvenir Passports is the same, $8, until June 30th and then $10 as of July 1.

If you purchase your ticket and/or Souvenir Passport at a Michigan Kroger store you will get $1 per ticket discount.

The Tall Ships sail into Mid-Michigan every three years, and TV5 is a proud television sponsor of the maritime history festival.
