Faith, a pure-bred Sheltie found on a busy street corner severely abused is recovering nicely two weeks after being found.

"It was evident that she really was in desperate need of medical attention," said Robin Mathews.

Mathews heads up the Gladwin County based Michigan Sheltie Rescue. She took Faith in after friends of the rescue discovered the abandoned animal deaf and nearly blind on the streets of Saginaw.

Faith was found on the corner of Congress and Bay in Saginaw. Authorities believe she just didn't wander here on her own, that she was intentionally dropped off in that vicinity.

"If you're doing this because you're trying to make a profit over selling dogs or puppies, this is wrong, it's against the law, and we're asking the public to help find who you are," said Mathews.

Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel is also looking for answers. He wants the person responsible behind bars.

He said abuse like he sees in Faith may be the start of even worse crimes.

That's why he is appealing to the public to turn in whoever committed this heinous act.

"People who are torturing animals may then go on to torture humans or do other forms of violence to human beings," said Federspiel

The good news is, despite her injuries, Faith is doing well.

After a few more operations, she'll be looking for a permanent place to live.

"So I see this dog living out a healthy life in what we like to call a furever home," said Mathews.
