An off-duty Wayne County sheriff's reserve deputy used quick thinking to help stop an attempted bank robbery in Detroit.

WXYZ-TV reports Wally Beydoun was heading into the bank on Saturday afternoon when he noticed that bank workers seemed agitated as a man loitered inside the bank.

The sheriff's department says the reservist walked up to the window and asked the teller if she spoke Arabic. He quietly showed her his badge and asked, in Arabic, if the bank was being robbed. She replied that it was and he instructed workers to lock the bank's doors.

The Detroit News reports the suspect remained inside the bank, unaware of what was going on. The armed reservist didn't speak with the suspect but kept watch until Detroit police arrived to make an arrest.
