ATLANTA, MI (AP) -

A man from Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula has entered a plea in the slaying of his wife whose body was found in the rear seat of a burning vehicle.

Erich Wilfinger pleaded no contest Monday to second-degree murder during a hearing in Circuit Court. It's not an admission of guilt but is treated as such for sentencing purposes. He's scheduled to learn his punishment April 25 and faces up to life in prison.

Marsha Wilfinger's burned remains were discovered June 20 in Montmorency County's Albert Township. Authorities say it appeared that the vehicle had been towed to the area and they followed a trail of road marks and auto parts to a home in Briley Township.

Investigators have said there was evidence of a recent domestic assault at the home.
