FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

The Joint Information Committee is warning residents about a group of up to nine people who are posing as water officials.

The group enters homes, samples water and makes repairs without presenting official identification.

"If someone comes to your home and asks to conduct services, always request their identification," said MSP Capt. Chris Kelenske. "All official response personnel have their proper identification readily presentable and available. If you suspect something suspicious, don't allow the person to enter your home and immediately report the activity to law enforcement."

The Flint Water Response Team is made up of local, state and federal government agencies and nonprofit partners. All team members will wear official credentialed badges with a State of Michigan seal hologram so they can be easily identified.

Members of this team will not request any money.
