SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Nearly 4,000 customers will have a planned power interruption this week for electric system improvement work.

Consumers Energy is doing the work in Saginaw on Thursday, April 7. To complete it, power will need to be cut to 3,900 customers for about an hour.

The outage will begin at 4:30 a.m. and is scheduled to be completed by 5:30 a.m.

The affected area is in the City of Saginaw. The general borders are:

  • Perkins Street to the north
  • I-75 to the east
  • Doerr Street to the south
  • Sheridan Avenue to the west

The goal is to enhance electric reliability for customers in the area.

The outage could be rescheduled due to weather or other reasons. If that happens, the outage will occur Friday, April 8 from 4:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m.
