FRANKENMUTH, MI (WNEM) -

Employers are taking a unique approach to convincing students to pursue a career in insurance.

A number of Tuscola County Schools as well as Frankenmuth Public Schools are partnering with insurance companies and Northwood University.

Together, they'll offer career training and college credits for students who pursue a job in the insurance industry.

"It gives them an opportunity to learn more about the insurance industry to get an idea of what kind of jobs and opportunities there are in this business and it gives them some real world exposure outside of the classroom working in a professional business setting," said Fred Edmond, Frankenmuth Insurance Company.

This is the fourth program of its kind to be launched in Michigan.
