FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

As the Flint water crisis nears the two-year mark, more money is being made available.

Gov. Rick Snyder opened the state's Disaster and Emergency Contingency Fund Wednesday morning.

The money will allow affected local government to apply for assistance grants, up to $100,000.

The money can be applied towards disaster response costs, such as overtime for public employees and repair and shelter supplies.

"Money from this fund will help cover some of the costs they incurred while responding to the emergency. I will continue to explore other options for providing financial assistance to our local government partners," Snyder said.
