USPS reduces prices for first time

EVERYWHERE (WNEM) -

The United State Postal Service is reducing prices for the first time ever.

The price reduction goes into effect on April 10. The reduction was mandated by the Postal Regulatory Commission.

USPS said they will lose $2 billion in annual revenue as a result of the decrease.

The PRC approved surcharges for USPS in January 2014. 

  • Letters (1 oz.)
    • Current: 49 cents
    • Reduction: 47 cents
  • Letters (additional ounces)
    • Current: 22 cents
    • Reduction: 21 cents
  • Letters (international destinations)
    • Current: $1.20 
    • Reduction: $1.15 
  • Postcards
    • Current: 49 cents
    • Reduction: 47 cents
