MID-MICHIGAN (WNEM) -

If you were enjoying the warm weather on Easter and found yourself swatting away a mosquito, you weren't alone.

Bay County mosquito control said the biting pests have been developing in woodland pools for the last few weeks.

And crews are preparing to fight back.

In Bay County, aerial treatments are scheduled to run through April 15.

During this phase, three planes will treat roughly 45,000 acres of flooded woodlands to curtail adult spring mosquitos.

In Saginaw County, the mosquito abatement commission will begin treatment within two weeks.

It takes five to eight days to complete, and will cover 45,000 acres of woodland.

In Midland County, mosquito control is performing aerial treatments throughout April.

Those will cover more than 54,000 acres of woodlands.
