SAGINAW COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

Tracy Jacqman has three kids who attend North Saginaw Charter Academy in Kochville Township.

"Oh wow. That's sad. That's really sad," Jacqman said.

She said she was shocked when she found out a student threatened to bring a gun to school on Thursday and shoot another student.

"I know they don't stand for bullying at all so that's crazy," Jacqman said.

The Saginaw County Sheriff's Office said that's exactly what it was, a case of bullying that went way too far.

It started earlier this year when a 13-year-old pulled a knife on another student.

On Wednesday night, Sheriff Bill Federspiel said that victim received a terrifying video message on his phone.

"A video of the suspect pointing that gun at the screen, telling the victim 'I'm going to come to school with that gun, and if you don't give me your phone, I'm going to come to school and kill you,'" Federspiel said.

Scared for his life, he told his grandma who quickly called authorities.

Police were able to recover the gun from the suspect’s home and took him into custody.

"We're very fortunate to have intercepted this gun and prevented a possible tragic situation at the school today," Federspiel said.

Jacqman said the school did not notify her of the incident, but is relieved the incident was handled before anyone got hurt.

"I just have some questions in the morning when school is back in session," Jacqman said.

North Saginaw Charter School released a statement on Friday on the incident:

"The entire North Saginaw Charter School community is deeply saddened by this week’s events, and our thoughts are with the families impacted.  The school's teachers and social worker are available to help any student deal with the stress of this or other bullying situations.

The school has a zero tolerance anti-bullying policy and investigates any reports of bullying observed on campus.

The safety and security of students is the number one priority for everyone at North Saginaw Charter School and the school appreciates the partnership it has with families. The school also wishes to thank the police for all of their work to not only investigate this, but also to help ensure a safe environment at the school."

The underage suspect is in custody at the juvenile detention center, facing multiple felony charges.
