TV5's anchor David Custer and photojournalist Kurt Rempe are being honored with a Silver Telly award.

Custer and Rempe worked together on a piece showcasing three employees at a Mid-Michigan Home Depot who brought a little magic to the store.

“Over the course of my career I have won two bronze Telly Awards and have never won a Silver,” Custer said. “I am so proud and especially because it’s this story. A story of three folks who created an incredible video that was not only positive in nature but it expressed gratitude to their employer and community.”

The Telly Award honors outstanding local, regional and cable TV commercials and programs, the finest video and film productions, and web commercials, videos and films. More than 15,000 people entered this year's contest, and Custer and Rempe won the top honor.

Less than 10 percent of entries are chosen as winners of a Silver Telly.

A judging panel of more than 650 past Silver Telly winners evaluate entries against a high standard of merit, rather than in competition with other entries.
