“She needs to get out and socialize, this is too much,” said Arleen Jones.

Jones is her mother's caretaker at her home in Burton.

Her mother, Aniela Olesko, is 94 years-old, but Jones said the doctors tell her she's fit enough to live past 100.

Olesko can walk, but struggles to bend her legs.

She said she wants to leave the house and live her life. But the steps outside of her home that keep her trapped indoors.

She needs a ramp to get outside.

But that's something neither her, nor her daughter, can afford to build.

“The day passes by and I just – it’s like being dead. It's tough,” Olesko said.

Not being able to feel the fresh air around her has not been Olesko’s whole life. She fled from Poland to Germany during World War II, where she met her husband.

“When the Americans came there, he was there quite a while. And he took a liking to her, instead of all the other gals out there,” Jones said.

They married and moved to America and had seven children.

She’s lived a very full life. And now, to her, that life is at a standstill.

“I just feel so bad for her, she struggled all through her life through the war and raising her kids and now sits in a chair all day,” Jones said.

The women reached out to the TV5 Rescue Squad for help building a ramp.

If someone could help, Olesko said she looks forward to feeling the sunshine on her face once again.

“I can't even explain,” Olesko said.

Jones said, “That would be a God-send. It would be a miracle to us. Those are angels in disguise.”
