BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

People had the opportunity to better understand the events of this year's presidential election in Bay County.

Political science faculty talked about many issues, such as the appeal of populist candidates Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders, and the possibility of a contested Republican nomination.

"People are very confused because we haven't had a contested convention in many, many years, and I think that people like to have that background information about what's going on right now. But the truth is we don't know," said political science Professor Tom Boudrot.

The presentation was called Election 2016: An Angry Electorate, Divided Parties, and And Un-Conventional Candidates.
