SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The bishop of Saginaw has made it a tradition to sing for guests at the annual Bishop's Ball.

And to celebrate its 10th anniversary, Bishop Joseph Cistone plans to auction off his beloved guitar at this year's event.

Money raised will go towards a fund in honor of the bishop's parents.

The ball takes place April 29 at the Horizons Conference Center in Saginaw.

"In and of itself it's not a big fundraiser, but it’s a lot of fun," Cistone said. "It brings good people together, and we can feel good about ourselves as a diocese and the work that we do. Whether it’s in education, or Christian services for people in need."

The bishop admits playing the 12-string guitar has become difficult in recent years, and instead favors a traditional 6-string guitar.

He said he looks forward to finding a new home for his "old guitar."
