MIDLAND, MI (WNEM) -

Lots of kids dream of being an NBA star, or being a gridiron hero, or maybe a diamond king.

But reality sets in very fast that a select few can actually make the jump to the pros.

Dr. Preston James IV invited about a hundred at risk kids from Detroit, Kalamazoo, Flint, Saginaw and Bay City to Northwood University for a special program.

"We're showing them that they can actually come out and be a part of sports in the business side of sports," James said.

He told the kids they can make a good living in the sports industry if they study hard in college.

"We're empowering them to look at other choices if you want to stay in football great, becomes a sports lawyer, an accountant, become a marketer," James said.

One of these teens could be the next commissioner of the National Football League.
