SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The City of Saginaw will soon be electing a new Mayor Pro Tem.

Current Mayor Pro Tem Amos O’Neal has filed paperwork to run for the 9th District Board of Commissioners.

The move comes after Robert “Moe” Woods Jr. has decided not to run for re-election.

O’Neal must resign his current position with the city to run.

The current Saginaw City Council must now elect someone to serve in the Mayor Pro Tem position until the term expires in November.

Saginaw Mayor Dennis Browning tells TV5 the vote is expected to come at the next city council meeting, on April 25.

A special meeting will also be scheduled to find a new council member.
