VASSAR, MI (WNEM) -

Investigators have identified the man who dead after being trapped under a trailer that was on fire.

It happened around 3:33 p.m. on April 19.

Tuscola County Deputy Cory Jacobs and Vassar City Officer Jodi Grant both responded to the scene on Scotch Road in Vassar Township, just east of Vassar.

That’s when they found that an enclosed trailer next to a home was on fire.

Together the officers pulled out 61-year-old Roy Gidding who was trapped under the trailer.

Despite Gidding being badly burned, officers tried to revive him. Gidding was later pronounced dead.

An autopsy showed he died of natural causes, and not as a result of the fire.

Investigators believe the man was using a torch on a trailer, leading to the fire.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help with expenses.
