LAPEER COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A Flint Water Department employee was found dead on April 16.

Matthew McFarland, 43, of Otter Lake, was found dead at a residence in Otter Lake by a friend. His friend called 911.

There were no signs of foul play in McFarland's death, police said.

His death was from drug intoxication with high levels of mixed controlled substances with a contribution of his underlying heart disease, the medical examiner said.

McFarland was an employee at the Flint Water Department.

His death remains under investigation. Once the investigation is complete the cause of death may be revised.
