FLINT, Mich. (AP) -

Three universities and a group of community organizations are sharing research and resources in an effort to better serve Flint residents dealing with the city's lead-contaminated water crisis.

Organizers on Tuesday launched the Healthy Flint Research Coordinating Center. It intends to link the work of University of Michigan's Ann Arbor and Flint campuses, Michigan State University and the Community Based Organization Partners.

The center will coordinate projects related to the economic, environmental, behavioral and physical health of residents. It aims to include ideas from community members and complement rather than duplicate the work of each institution.

The center's location hasn't been determined.

Flint is under a state of emergency after lead from old pipes leached into the supply because the water wasn't treated properly.
