FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A 23-year-old woman was injured in a vehicle accident on Friday.

It happened shortly after 5:30 p.m. at the intersection of E. Austin Avenue and Summit Street in Flint.

A 31-year-old female received a call from the 23-year-old that someone was following or chasing her and her brother, police said.

She got in her 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix and started driving at a high speed eastbound on Austin Avenue towards her friend.

She ran a stop and struck the passenger side of a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, police said. That Grand Prix was driven by her friend's brother, a 27-year-old male.

The 23-year-old became trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated, police said.

She was transported to Hurley Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition. Her condition has been downgraded to fair condition.

No one else was injured in the accident.

Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash, but speed is being investigation.

If you witnessed the crash call Sgt. Jason Groulx at 810-237-6811.
