FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

A woman and two children were hospitalized after they were involved in a vehicle accident on Sunday.

It happened at the intersection of N. Franklin Avenue and Hamilton Avenue in Flint shortly before 3 a.m.

A 26-year-old woman was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala southbound on Franklin when she drifted off the road and struck a sign and utility pole, police said.

There were two children in the vehicle, a 8-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl.

The 8-year-old was severely injured and listed in critical condition. The girl complained of an injury, but was listed in good condition, police said.

All three occupants were taken to the hospital.

Police believe alcohol and drugs were a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing, but Child Protective Services were notified.

If you witnessed the crash call Sgt. Jason Groulx at 810-237-6811.
