CHESANING, MI (WNEM) -

The Michigan Department of Environmental Quality is in Mid-Michigan Tuesday after a diesel fuel tank leaked.

It happened over the weekend at 19303 Corunna Road in Chesaning.

The DEQ reports that a farmer contacted officials after an above ground tank leaked about 100 gallons on to the ground.

It went into the soil and spread, but DEQ officials do not believe it reached the nearby Shiawassee River.

They are on scene today assessing the soil and potential water contamination threat.
