'Paw-ternity' leave for pet owners?

Yesterday we told you about “meternity”, which is basically maternity leave without the baby.

Now another form of leave is gaining traction, at least in the UK.

“Paw-ternity” leave is designed to help owners and their four-legged friends bond.

While the policy isn’t widespread, a handful of companies are offering employees paid time out of the office to take care of their pets.

While the amount of time-off varies by company, pet-lovers are applauding the idea.

Reaction overall has been mixed.

A study in Psychology Today found that people who owned animals tended to be healthier and happier, giving those with “furbabies” some added firepower to their argument.
