CLAYTON TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Police are warning residents of a possible scam in Genesee County.

Within the last week a dark colored SUV has been spotted in the area of Calkins Road and Elms Road in Clayton Township going to different homes.

The occupants were described as a black male and a black female, police said.

They have been knocking on the door of homes between the hours of midnight and 4:30 a.m. asking questions like "Did you order a pizza?" without a pizza box and "Can I use your phone?" police said.

Police are warning residents to not open their doors to strangers at odd hours of the night. They encourage you to turn on multiple lights in your home and call 911.
