Bay City Public Safety Officer Nicholas Pletzke was caught on camera throwing the pigskin around with a couple kids on Jackson Street last week.

The two kids, Kevin Dotson and Steven Thomas, were playing catch when Pletzke was driving through the neighborhood.

"He pulled up and said 'Don't stop because I'm here.' And I'm like, 'You're kinda in my way, so if you're gonna sit there you might as well come out and play,'" Thomas said.

Pletzke wasn't about to back down from that challenge.

"If there's time to get out and be apart of the community that's what it's all about. And that's what our police department pushes is for community relations," Pletzke said.

The dad, Ndegwa Brown, recognized the special moment and recorded it. He said it was a moment he didn't want to forget.

"I was like that's so awesome because it lets the kids know that police are nice guys too," Brown said.
