Deputies: Speeding driver hits lines, brings them down on roadway

ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

One person hospitalized with severe injuries after he high some high tension power lines, causing them to fall on the road.

It happened Friday, May 6 on the SB US-127 Business entrance near Isabella Road in Isabella County.

Deputies say 19-year-old Benjamin Clarke, from Royal Oak, may have been going too fast, and didn’t take the curve correctly. He then hit the lines, bringing them partially down on the road.

The driver of a Penske truck that was heading northbound didn’t see the lines and hit them, shearing off the upper part of the truck.

Clarke had to be extricated from the vehicle and at last check was seriously hurt.

The driver of the Penske truck wasn’t hurt.
