BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A motorcycle driver collided with a deer and it was all caught on camera thanks to a GoPro on the driver’s helmet.

Josh Irwin, of Bay City, said he was going about 40 miles per hour along a Saginaw County road when you can see the deer suddenly jump into view.

Irwin’s GoPro helmet captured the moment he slammed into the deer, leaving the bike with cosmetic damage and him with a fractured left wrist.

He said his protective gear kept the injuries from being more severe.

The accident happened on Bay Road near Saginaw Valley State University.

"Nothing really too bad happened. Just because I was wearing gear and what not, just a little fracture, I think. The GoPro actually got ejected from my helmet," Irwin said.

"Immediately after I was just mad honestly, just because you know, my bike and all that kind of stuff. Glad to be all right. I know it could've been a lot worse."

Thankfully he walked away and so did the deer.

"I knocked it down and it kind of stumbled and then it just ran off into the fields," Irwin said.
