GENESEE TOWNSHIP, MI (WNEM) -

Quick action by a neighbor was probably the difference between life and dead in a Mid-Michigan house fire.

Firefighters were called to the 5100 block of Hartland Drive in Genesee Township at around 4 p.m. on Monday.

But before they arrived, neighbor Denny Dear tells TV5 that he ran into the burning home and got the attention of the people inside by banging on the door.

“By the time we got them, probably three minutes, and the garage was gone and the house was beginning to get eaten by flames.”

All four people made it out safely.

The backside of the home was destroyed.

The cause of that fire is unclear.
