Disabled couple seeks help with new roof

A Mid-Michigan veteran is seeking help to bring his ailing wife back home.

A horrible crash left her with devastating injuries and now the couple needs to make some alterations to their home before she's allowed to return. However, the couple can't afford to make the repairs.

"All I knew is it hurt and it hurt bad," Ruth Sny said.

The last six months have been rough for her. A violent car accident back in November left her wheelchair bound after breaking both of her ankles and her left wrist. Now she spends her days in rehab.

Her home is not wheelchair accessible and her insurance should cover the cost of a ramp and other changes.

Ruth Sny said those repairs are pointless if she can't get a new roof and that is why she called the TV5 Rescue Squad.

"Every time it rains outside it rains inside my bathroom," she said.

Meanwhile, her husband said it would mean everything to get his wife back into their home.

"Oh, it would mean the world to me. I can't put it into words how nice it would be to have a home like that," Ron Sny said.

Ron Sny is a disabled veteran. He said they can't afford to leave their home. He said the combination of social security and small pension from their time at General Motors isn't enough to make ends meet, much less get a new roof.

"It worries me greatly, but I don't know what else we can do," Ron Sny said.

The Rescue Squad was able to help the couple in March when the folks at Stars and Stripes Lawn Care came out to clear a tree that had fallen in their yard. Now, Ruth Sny is hoping for one more miracle.

"I would sure be thankful if anyone could help finance that roof. An angel with a whole lot or all my charming little angels with a little bit," she said.
