FLINT, MI (WNEM) -

Local businesses band together to wow hungry visitors to the Vehicle City next week.

Restaurants are tweaking their menus and inviting everyone to chow-down in Flint-town.

Spencer Ruegsegger, of Blackstones, came up with the idea. He, along with Ken Laatz of Soggy Bottom, are spearheading the inaugural "Flint Restaurant Week."

The even showcases the finest cuisines in Flint.

"We hope that it's gonna be really big. We hope this is the first annual Restaurant Week. Ken Laatz and I put it together after the Flint water crisis broke. We thought we would put something together that brings some positivity to the city of Flint," Ruegsegger said.

There are 19 restaurants participating. Each dish is designed to promote Flint's dining options and remind people it's safe to eat out during the water crisis.

Laats wants more people to talk more about his delicious sliders than the water crisis.

"That's right. We don't want to talk about the water. It's about showcasing what Flint has to offer in the culinary scene and we have some of the best around," Laatz said.

You can see, smell and taste the food from May 17-21.
