LANSING, MI (AP) -

A state elevator inspector accused of playing golf while on the clock has pleaded guilty to false pretenses and must pay more than $11,000 in restitution.

In a statement Thursday, Attorney General Bill Schuette says taxpayers deserve "honesty and accountability" from state employees at all levels.

Werner Noll was charged last year, months after TV station WWMT found him golfing in Portage during work hours in 2014. The Kalamazoo man had been an elevator inspector since 1998. Noll is no longer a state worker.

An investigation found Noll used state time and a state vehicle for personal activities for 83 days in 2012, 2013 and 2014.

He'll get his sentence on June 22.
