CLARE COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -

A driver hits a rest area fence and overturns.

It happened on May 17 at 6:40 p.m. at the Mackie Rest Area on US-127 near Colonville Road in Clare County.

Michigan State Troopers say a 77-year-old Roscommon man was northbound on US-127 when he exited to the rest area.

That’s when he hit a fence and overturned before hitting a gate post.

The man was wearing his seat belt, and was taken to the hospital.

His condition is unclear.

Speed is believed to be a factor in the crash.
