Bill would simplify skilled trades

LANSING, MI (WNEM) -

A plan to update Michigan's skilled trades regulations was introduced in the State Senate Wednesday.

The Skilled Trades Regulation Act  or STRA would "update and revise laws in to one universal code that would ensure they meet the highest standards for enforcement and efficiency" according to Senator Ken Horn (R) Frankenmuth, a bill co-sponsor.

The legislation is aimed at creating consistency in the application and testing process for skilled trade licensees. It would also simplify the process for professionals licensed in more than one trade.

The plan is covered by Senate Bills 963 - 972.
