DETROIT (AP) -

Police say a hit-and-run driver who fatally struck a pedestrian in Detroit only stopped long enough to remove the man's body from the hood of the car and dump it in an alley.

The pedestrian was hit Tuesday night while crossing a street on the city's west side. The man ended up on the windshield and the driver went about a block before pulling into the alley.

Four other people were in the vehicle.

Family members tell WXYZ-TV the victim was 52-year-old Bruce Key.

The television station reports that Key was struck about 9:40 p.m. after leaving a store in his neighborhood.

Tips are being sought by police in the case.
