Serving the curve for 100 years.

Koegel Meats of Flint is celebrating 100 years in business. The Koegel story began during the last century when Albert Koegel trained to become a “Master Sausage Maker“ in an apprenticeship program in Germany.

According to a company press release, while in Germany, he learned all aspects of the sausage business, from the harvesting of animals to the processing and retailing of meat. After completing his apprenticeship, Albert moved to the United States and in 1916 moved to Flint, Michigan to pursue his dream of starting his own meat company. In Flint, he opened a sausage making company and a retail meat market. By the mid 1930s, Albert began constructing his own plant to meet the demand for his unique meat products. He employed just a handful of workers, nothing compared to the nearly one hundred people employed today.

Now, 100 years later, Koegel Meats produces about thirty-five different signature meat products under the leadership of the Koegel family.

The Koegel Family, the statement goes on to say, thanks its customers in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky for their support over the past 100 years.
