BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

Thousands filled Wenonah Park in Bay City today for Relay for Life. survivors, families, supporters, and those battling through cancer raised money for cancer research.

"Our goal is $200,000 this year. All of our funds go toward cancer research, and we're the largest supporter of cancer research outside of the federal government," said event organizer Brian Krouse.

Last year, the Bay City event took the title of the 7th largest Relay for Life team in the state. This year, they are hoping to top that with around 50 teams, and an estimated attendance of 5-6 thousand people.

"It's phenomenal, it touches my heart to see so many active [people], you hear about it but until you see it you have no idea," said Annette Randall, a breast cancer survivor.
