A call about a vehicle in a lake ends with the driver being arrested and charged with operating under the influence.

It happened Monday, May 23 at 10:06 p.m. near Stevenson Lake in Isabella County’s Vernon Township.

Deputies say they were called about a vehicle that left the road and landed in the lake.

When they arrived they found the vehicle wasn’t in the lake, but did believe that the driver had been drinking.

While deputies questioned the 38-year-old Mt. Pleasant man, they asked him to remove chewing tobacco from his mouth. Deputies then tried to arrest him for operating under the influence and say he started resisting being handcuffed.

It allegedly took a deputy threatening to Taser the suspect before he stopped resisting.

The man’s name has not been released.
