Genocide education controversy

LANSING, MI (AP) -

A bill that would require older Michigan students to learn about the Nazi Holocaust and the 1915 Armenian Massacre has been sent to Governor Rick Snyder.

The State House of Representatives approved the measure Wednesday.

Historians believe that as many as 1 point 5 million Armenians were killed by Ottoman Turks during a 1915 purge.

The current Turkish government disputes the term "holocaust" and claims the Armenian death toll has been overstated.
