Road construction still in place this Memorial Day weekend

With an estimated 1.2 million motorists expected to use Michigan roads this Memorial Day weekend, the Department of Transportation will remove lane restrictions in 86 out of 123 projects to help ease delays for drivers.

Here’s a list of closures that will still remain:

Reminder I-275 South is CLOSED from 696/96/M5 to 5 Mile Rd thru July. Detour east 696 to south M-10 to south M-39 to west 96.

Wayne County

- I-94 has all ramps at Trumbull Avenue, including the eastbound service drive, closed.

- I-96 will have one lane open in each direction at Evergreen Road.

- I-275 has all southbound lanes closed between the I-96/I-696 interchange and 5 Mile Road.

- M-1 Rail work in downtown Detroit continues, with lane and shoulder closures in each direction on M-1 (Woodward Avenue), I-75, and I-94.

- M-10 will have one lane open on the southbound service drive near Meyers and McNichols roads.

Macomb County

- M-53 has one lane closed in each direction from the Red Run Drain to 18 Mile Road.

HOLIDAY EVENTS closing lanes or roads:

M-1: (Woodward Ave)

In Oakland County, south M-1 from Maplehurst St to 9 Mile Road is CLOSED 9am-noon Mon for event.

M-19: (North Main St)

In Macomb County, M-19 (N Main St) from Division Rd to 33 Mile, CLOSED Mon 9am-11am for event.

In Macomb County, M-19 (Main St) from Weber to Bordman, CLOSED Mon 9am-11am for parade.

US-12: (Michigan Ave)

In Wayne County, east US-12 from Harrison St to Bayhan St, CLOSED Mon 9am-2pm for parade.


In Oakland County, north/south US-24 (Dixie Hwy), Sashabaw to Walton, Mon 9am-noon for parade.

Grand River:

In Oakland County, east/west Grand River Avenue, Gill Rd to Orchard Lake, CLOSED Mon 9am-noon for local event.

M-3: (Gratiot Ave)

In Macomb County, M-3/Gratiot, North Park St to Wilson St, left lane closed southbound and two right lanes closed northbound, Mon 10 am-1pm for local event.
