CANTON TOWNSHIP, MI (AP) -

A retired U.S. Army sergeant who lost his legs after being hurt by an improvised explosive device in Iraq will lead a yoga class in suburban Detroit as part of a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project.

Dan Nevins hosts Yoga in the Park on the morning of July 30 in Heritage Park behind the Canton Administration Building.  Nevins, a yoga instructor, credits the practice with turning his life around after the 2004 blast and promotes yoga's benefits for returning veterans and others.

Tickets are $35 in advance and $45 on the day of the event. The price includes a Wounded Warrior Project yoga mat and other items, and all proceeds go to the nonprofit group.

Nevins travels globally as a motivational speaker.
