Sunshine is beaming over Mid-Michigan

Posted: Updated:

We could not ask for better weather for our Memorial Day. From our family to yours, we hope it's a great one! And let us not forget the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Your fresh forecast awaits below, and be sure to catch Chief Meteorologist Bryan Bachman with another update on WNEM-TV5 news at 5 PM!

This Afternoon & Evening

Blue sky and abundant sunshine are the theme once again around Mid-Michigan, with temperatures comfortably in the 70s as we approach lunchtime. Through the afternoon, we'll gradually warm into the upper 70s and lower 80s.

We'll keep the warmth, but we'll enjoy a noticeable drop in humidity. Tonight is a great night to keep the windows open and give the A/C a break. Overnight lows should settle into the 50s tonight.

An isolated sprinkle isn't out of the question this afternoon, but chances are quite small. No weather interruptions will stand in your way as you head home from your travel destinations.

Beautiful conditions carry into Tuesday, allowing for a smooth transition back to work and back to school. Sun will be on full display once again, with temperatures reaching back into the upper 70s and lower 80s inland.

Areas near the immediate lakeshore will be cooler on Tuesday as winds shift to an easterly direction.

Most of your Wednesday remains dry, but a gradual increase in cloud cover can be expected ahead of our next rain chance which arrives Wednesday night. Highs should reach into the 80s Wednesday as southerly winds move back into the picture.

Moisture will build ahead of a cold front which will make its pass Wednesday night, leading to shower and thunderstorm development.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of the area in a 5% risk for severe weather, which is the lowest possible risk. Simply put, widespread severe weather is not expected, but one or two storms may reach severe levels. The main threats would be gusty winds and hail.

The arrival time of our front, which will be later in the day, is not ideal for severe weather, which is always great news. However, we're still a few days away, so we'll keep our eyes on it.
