Mid-Michigan city cracking down on nuisance homes with new hotline

Posted: Updated:
BURTON, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan city is cracking down on nuisance homes in an effort to attract more residents and businesses.

The City of Burton announced Tuesday a new “Blight Elimination Hotline.”

“Burton residents have a right to live in neighborhoods free of blight, trash, and graffiti,” Mayor Paula K. Zelenko said. “We will no longer tolerate repeated excuses, no longer grant extension after extension, and no longer subject our residents who do conform to accepted norms and code regulations to the financial and quality of life degradations of those who do not.”

The hotline allows residents to report code violations and eyesores to the Public Works Department by calling 810-742-9230, extension 3113.

Residents can also submit violations on the website: http://www.burtonmi.gov/citizen_request_center/index.php

They can also email the hotline at cleanupburton@burtonmi.gov

For additional information you can contact the City of Burton Department of Public Works at 742-9230.
