Humane society opens cat cafe, adoption center in Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR, MI (AP) -

Washtenaw County's first cat cafe has opened its doors, offering visitors the opportunity to get their paws on some friendly felines.

The Ann Arbor News reports that the Humane Society of Huron Valley recently

Up to 20 guests at a time can pay $7 an hour to sit in the cafe and enjoy their own food or non-alcoholic beverage while hanging out with a room full of 13 cats. They're also able to adopt a cat on site if they find one that suits them well.

Manager Haley Chynoweth says 19 cats already have been adopted in the first three weeks of operations.

She says the cafe is welcoming 80 to 100 people a day on the weekends.
