Mid-Michigan food drive is 'in the bag'

Posted: Updated:

Postal employees and some Mid-Michigan residents have helped feed local needy. This year's 'Stamp Out Hunger' Food Drive in the Flint area is being called a big success by the local branch of the United States Postal Service.

More than 119,000 pounds of non-perishable food was recently collected by letter carriers. Donations were left by residents in mailboxes, picked up by carriers and delivered to local food pantries.

Postal workers in Burton, Grand Blanc, Flushing, Attica, Clio, Davison, Durand, Dryden, Fenton, Genesee, Holly, Imlay City, Lapeer, Lennon, Linden, North Branch, Mount Morris, Otisville, Otter Lake and Swartz Creek also participated in the successful charity event.

Each year, the 'Stamp Out Hunger' effort results in millions of pounds of food being donated and collected for those most in need, the Post Office noted in a release.
