HOUGHTON LAKE, MI (WNEM) -

A 7-year-old girl from Bridgeport had a jump on the competition on the opening day of the Houghton Lake Area Tourism Bureau's "Catch us if you can" fishing contest.

Marisa Jackson, who is a first grader at Handley Elementary in Saginaw, was fishing with her family when she caught the first tagged fish of the competition.

The tagged 12-inch rock bass was actually Marisa's second catch of the day. She caught a rock bass about 10 minutes earlier.

Marisa and her parents received a $50 gas card and their names will be entered into a grand prize drawing at Spicer's Boat City where they could win $100,000 and a Lund boat among other prizes.
