Veteran's service dog can now play outside thanks to donated fence

Yellow lab Bomber is learning to be veteran Gregory Jajo's lovable companion and service dog.

Bomber graduated from Patriot Paws a few weeks ago and is now tasked with helping Jajo cope with his PTSD and injuries from combat, "If I drop my car keys, and with me having lower back injuries, I'll give him the cue of 'ut-oh' and he'll actually pick up the keys and hand them to me."

Bomber's skills don't come without many hours of training, but as Jajo's midland yard is right now, it doesn't keep Bomber in when his retriever instincts kick in.

"Bomber was actually chasing a few of the rabbits through the yard and actually went through the temporary fence," Jajo said.

That, coupled with the duo's need to train free of distractions, they could only do so inside, but that's all about to change.

The Home Depot Foundation heard about this pair's predicament and began installing a new fence Friday morning to keep distractions out and bomber in. By the end of next week, they'll be able to train in the summer sun as Bomber learns to give back what this veteran gave for our country.

"I got a buddy for life," Jajo said.
