Police investigate reported stabbing near campus

Police are investigating after a reported stabbing near the campus of Central Michigan University.

The incident happened early Tuesday morning on East Campus Drive near Bloomfield Street in Mt. Pleasant.

Police said they were notified about the incident when the 29-year-old victim showed up at a local hospital with a non-life threatening stab wound. The victim told police the incident involved some type of drug transaction and also said his 22-year-old girlfriend saw the attack and dropped him off at the hospital. 

Officers spoke with the woman who also had a small cut on her thumb. She told police the stabbing took place at an apartment complex located on Bluegrass Road and gave a different description of the suspect. 

Officers recovered a small pocket knife from the woman believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing. 

The male victim was later arrested and booked into jail on an outstanding warrant out of Grand Rapids.
