Volunteers build home for Mid-Michigan family

BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -

A Mid-Michigan family is building a home thanks to the help of local volunteers.

On Tuesday, Habitat for Humanity volunteers will build and raise the walls of the Berry family's home in the 800 block of W. Jane Street in Bay City.

"Words cannot express how incredibly excited I am to be this lucky and blessed to build my own home," said Ciarra Berry, the homeowner.

Berry will work alongside the volunteers. She will then purchase the home through an affordable mortgage.

"I think it's definitely awesome. It's an amazing experience, like a dream come true. Seems too good to be true," she said.

Habitat for Humanity hopes to hand the keys over to the new occupants within a few weeks.
