The tall ship fleet will arrive in Bay City in just over a month and additional volunteers are needed.

Along with the twelve ships participating in this year’s Tall Ship Celebration event, thousands of people are expected to flock to the Bay City waterfront to view the ships and enjoy the best tall ship festival in North America. Volunteers are still needed to support the festival and ensure visiting crew and guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience in the Great Lakes Bay Region.  Festival organizers will host an informational/registration session for interested volunteers at the Wirt Library on Center Avenue in Bay City on Wednesday, June 15th from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m.

“Tall Ship Celebration has always been very fortunate to welcome a small army of volunteers who are the backbone of our efforts during the festival weekend,” explained Event Coordinator Shirley Roberts. “Right now we have volunteers registered for about half of the positions we have available for roles ranging from children’s crafts to ship support and everything in between.”

Volunteers can also register by visiting www.tallshipcelebration.com and clicking on the “Get Involved/Volunteer Registration” tabs or by calling 989-895-5193 for more information. Tall Ship Celebration 2016 is presented by the Dow Corning Corporation and sponsored by McLaren Bay Region.  WNEMTV5 and WNEM.com is a proud partner.  For more information about Tall Ship Celebration call 989-895-5193 or visit www.tallshipcelebration.com.
